About the Webinar

For many nonprofits and CPAs, the Form 990 is viewed as a simple IRS compliance requirement. In reality, this public document is one of your most powerful tools for enhancing your organization’s brand, demonstrating transparency and accountability, and telling a compelling story of impact. In this webinar, participants will learn how to optimize key sections of the Form 990 so that it accurately reflects their financial and operational health, builds donor and public trust, and supports year-round fundraising and communications efforts.

By the end of Part 2, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize and avoid common compliance and disclosure mistakes that can undermine transparency, confuse readers, or raise red flags with donors, funders, and watchdog organizations.
  • Use Form 990 intentionally as a strategic fundraising, grantmaking, and PR tool, including strengthening grant proposals, donor cultivation, and ratings on platforms like Candid and Charity Navigator.
  • Reframe the Form 990 from a burdensome tax requirement into a concise, powerful narrative of their nonprofit's work, applying a practical review framework and checklist so the filing clearly communicates impact and enhances credibility with stakeholders.
