Form 990 E-filing was Mandated by the IRS!
As of July 1, 2019, The IRS has mandated the electronic filing of 990 Series forms for nonprofit organizations through the enactment of the Taxpayer First Act. As a result, organizations can no longer choose paper filing for 990 returns and must e-file their series 990 forms.
The electronic filing requirement applies to all the 990 Series Forms.
Form 990-EZ - Must be filed electronically for tax years ending on or after July 31, 2021.
Form 990-T - Must be filed electronically for tax years ending on or after December 31, 2020.
Note: Form 990-N is an Electronic Notice (e-postcard), and there is no paper form.
Mailing Address for Extension Form 8868
The extension Form 8868 can be filed electronically, as well as by paper. If the organization chooses to paper file the extension Form 8868, they can complete their form and send it to one of the following addresses.
